On the issues
I would like to see Evanston as a national leader in police reform. We need to re-envision the scope of traditional policing in our community. However, we as a community need to address the disparate experience of policing by the black community in Evanston.
Evanston must do more for all its citizens. We must recognize the systemic racism baked into our communities past and double our efforts to bring equity to our community.
I support and promise to implement the City of Evanston’s Climate Action and Resilience Plan (CARP).
Bringing a productive, collaborative, and progressive voice to the Evanston City Council
We need effective and thoughtful people in every layer of government. Matt comes with decades of experience having the hard conversations and developing creative solutions to the problems we face today. From his time as a community mediator and his time on the board of Ridgeville Park district, to his experience as chair of the City of Evanston's Citizen Police Complaint Assessment Committee, Matthew has shown: leadership, teamwork, and results.
